Vein Therapy

Are your unsightly leg veins forbidding you to wear shorts or skirts?  Do you have telanlectasia (small facial veins) around your nose or on your cheeks? Our Candela GentleMax laser is the perfect answer for the removal of unwanted veins.  Whether you have just a few spider veins or a slightly deeper cluster, the GentleMax laser is an effective treatment to help regain your confidence.  It is also effective on the small red to dark red bumps (hemangiomas) that can be visible anywhere on the body.  Let us help smooth your skin back to its’ original glory, free of unsightly veins and hemangiomas.

How does the laser work to remove the veins?

The laser delivers short bursts of light energy into the vein causing the blood in the vein to coagulate.  Once the coagulation has taken place, the vein collapses, absorbs back into the body.  Your blood flow will be redirected into a vein that is positioned deeper into the skin.  The laser works best on veins that display purple and blue hues with a “spider” web look.  Deeper veins that are “ropey” would not be considered for this treatment.

How many treatments will be necessary?

It is quite normal to need up to 3 treatments but most patients find that just one or two sessions is sufficient.  Depending on the size and color of the veins is also a factor in determining how many treatments will be necessary.

What does the treatment feel like?

Patients best describe the treatment as a “warm rubber band snap” and varies from little to slightly moderate discomfort, depending on the location and size of the vein being treated.  Cooling aloe vera gel and sunscreen is applied following treatment for comfort and protection.

How do I know if I am a candidate for vein therapy?

A consultation will determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment.  Please call our Cosmetic Coordinator, Kari, at 804-423-1514 to arrange a date and time convenient for you.
