James W. Miller, MD founded Family Practice Specialists of Richmond in November 1994. Dr. Miller attended the University of Virginia where he obtained his B.A. in Chemistry in 1972 and his Doctorate of Medicine in 1977. He completed his residency at Riverside Hospital- MCV Department of Family Practice in Newport News, VA in 1980 and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice in 1986. Dr. Miller also holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine. He serves as an international lecturer in the sports medicine field. Dr. Miller has been a national team physician for USA Swimming since 1996. He currently serves as an international Doping Control Delegate, overseeing the testing of athletes for banned substances at international swimming events. In addition, he chairs the Asthma and Diabetes Task Forces for USA Swimming. He is the immediate past president of United States Masters Swimming and also participates in many national and international competitions as an athlete. He is deeply committed to fitness for all patients and sees many athletes, many of whom are swimmers, referred from throughout the United States. He has written multiple articles for publication. The topics include asthma, diabetes, training effects on adult athletes, shoulder injuries, nutrition, coaching adults, and open water swimming. Learning is a lifetime passion of his which keeps his excitement for medicine keen. He shares this passion as an Associate Clinical Professor for the University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University and James Madison University.
John A. Siedlecki, MD earned his B.A. in Chemistry and Religion at the University of Virginia in 1991. In 1995, he received his Doctorate of Medicine from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. After earning his medical degree, he completed his residency in Family Practice at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, serving as chief resident. He is board certified in Family Practice from the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. Siedlecki has been a partner with Family Practice Specialists of Richmond, PC since 1998, and has special interests in preventative medicine and sports medicine. He currently serves as the team physician for Trinity Episcopal High School. Dr. Siedlecki is an Associate Clinical Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and has served on the Virginia Academy of Family Practice Board of Directors advising members on regional and national interests relating to family medicine. Dr. Siedlecki has admitting privileges to both Johnston-Willis Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center. He performs numerous procedures in the office, including skin surgeries and colonoscopies. Dr. Siedlecki is dedicated to providing comprehensive primary care to his patients.
Dr. Turner was born and raised in Martinsville, Virginia. He attended James Madison University for his undergraduate studies and then Virginia Commonwealth University for his medical degree. Dr. Turner completed his Fellowship in Family Medicine at the University of Virginia. He and his wife, Lauren, recently relocated to Richmond just in time for the birth of their first child.
Dr. Turner is genuinely excited to join FPSR on August 1st, 2016. He enjoys meeting new people, is down to earth and has an outgoing personality. He truly wants to make a difference in people’s lives.

Lynn E. Woodcock, F.N.P. earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995. Her Master’s Degree in Nursing, as well as Certification as a Nurse Practitioner was earned at the University of Virginia in 1997. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an academic honor society. Ms. Woodcock has experience in medical-surgical care, having worked at Medical College of Virginia Hospital. For the past 16 years, her experience has been in Family Practice. Her specialties are health education, women’s health, menopause management and anxiety-depression. Ms. Woodcock is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners. She is passionate about promoting the health and welfare of her patients and their families. She serves Virginia Commonwealth University, teaching students in the Family Practice setting. She and her husband share responsibilities on their farm, including raising Angus cattle, hay and grain. They train Tennessee walking horses and enjoy trail riding with friends and family.
Laura Eastman, F.N.P.
Laura joined Family Practice Specialists in July 2013. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from VCU in 2008 and earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing from VCU in 2013. Prior to joining the practice, Laura worked as a registered nurse at VCU Health Systems. She has experience in medical-surgical care, oncology, hemodialysis and pediatrics. Laura is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners. Her professional interests include women’s health, pediatrics, health education and preventative care. Laura brings to the practice, the ability to provide comprehensive health care to both English and Spanish speaking patients. Outside of work, she enjoys biking, kayaking, crafting and spending time with her husband, Seth, and their two dogs, Harvey and Watson.
Marianne Hagood earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Syracuse University, later attended John Tyler Community College’s School of Nursing where she earned an Associate Degree in Nursing, and then went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Gonzaga University in the summer of 2014. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an academic honor society.
Marianne has worked at Southside Regional Medical Center for the past several years, first in Medical/Surgical/Oncology nursing, then moving on to postpartum nursing and the Newborn Nursery. Marianne is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners. Marianne appreciates the opportunity to see patients of all ages and to assist them with health education and preventative care. Outside of work, Marianne enjoys rollerblading, swimming, cooking, reading, writing, and spending time with her husband, Mark, and their teenage sons, Davis and Nicholas.
Brenda H. Canada, F.N.P. earned her Registered Nursing degree at Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. Her Bachelor’s Degree was obtained at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992. In 1997, Ms. Canada obtained her Master of Science Degree and post-graduate Nurse Practitioner Certificate also from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau honor society. Ms. Canada has nursing experience in pediatrics, urology, and quality management. She was employed at Chippenham Medical Center for a great deal of her work experience. Ms. Canada is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of adjunct faculty for the Nurse Practitioner Program at Virginia Commonwealth University, teaching students in the Family Practice setting. Her interests include diabetes management and family health. She performs skin surgeries and enjoys participating in provision of health care management.
Dalia Elsayed earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Virginia, later attended Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Nursing where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, and then went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Georgetown University in the summer of 2015. Dalia worked as a Registered Nurse for Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. She has experience in medical-surgical/intensive care, pediatrics, oncology, and women’s health.
Her professional interests include endocrinology/diabetes, pediatrics, health/wellness education, and preventive care. Dalia is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, cooking/baking, reading, and spending time with her husband, Hossam and daughter, Nadine. Dalia is dedicated to providing holistic care to her patients and their families.
Denise Cochran, R.D. received her B.S. in Nutrition Science from Penn State University. She received her Masters in Medical Science from Emory University. She has worked as a Registered Dietician/Nutritional Counselor, since 1984. Denise has worked at Family Practice Specialists of Richmond since 1995. She also has given nutrition seminars in the community on such topics as sports nutrition, childhood nutrition, heart healthy eating and weight loss.
